Pater noster draws on the ancient prayer of Jesus Christ, a text dating back to the 1st century and handed down as a model of devotion and spiritual grounding. This setting was composed in memory of the Hungarian conductor, organist, and composer András Déri, a valued friend and colleague who passed away in September 2025.

Scored for SATB choir and organ, the work embraces the humility of prayer, seeking a musical language of quiet reverence, hope, and surrender to a sense of eternal peace. Polyphonic passages unfold alongside more homophonic writing, allowing the texture to breathe and gradually intensify, reflecting the contemplative yet searching nature of the text.

The premiere took place on October 18, 2025, at the Franciscan Church Pasarét in Budapest, during a memorial mass for András Déri. The performance was given by the St. Anthony Choir with organist István Ella, conducted by Antal Déri.
